Pansy shuttle!

No tatting. I got discouraged with the calf and have not decided what I want to do next. I've been working on other stitching and laces and just haven't felt inspired to tat.

I do have to say I broke down and ordered this Pansy Shuttle from La Cossette after lusting for it for a few years. I got a Lily of the Valley one through my lace guild last year but this is the one I really wanted. It just wasn't offered as one of the commemorative shuttles. This is the front.

And this is the back. I don't like tatting with these type of shuttles so it will be forever innocent and pristine. I know.....that seems almost sinful but I long ago gave up trying to tat with every shuttle I own. Some are enough pleasure to look at and hold from time to time.

  1. I have a La Cossette shuttle that I bought "just for pretty" too. I'm not a fan of bobbin shuttles, but La Cossette's are just too pretty to resist.

  2. Oh, I totally agree! Sinful? Not hardly. Let's face it, some people collect spoons and plates and I'm pretty sure they're not eating with/off them. If it's something that makes you happy it's well worth it. And it's soo pretty!

  3. As you know, I love collecting shuttles! Therefore, I completely understand buying a shuttle simply for its beauty. I love the pansies!

  4. We have matching pansy shuttles! I think they are beautiful, but I decided to use mine. I wasn't too sure if I would like it, but I really do! I especially love not having to have a hook keep falling off my lap.

On the other hand, we all have to have things just for pretty. Heck, I could collect some of those beautiful bobbins I've seen. And I have no desire to learn how to make bobbin lace!

  5. Your new shuttle is very pretty. I agree too and have several that are purchased purely for eye candy. I do however make at least one ring from each just to see how it tats.

  7. I am not "rich" enough to start a shuttle collection, ha ha ha ...
but I do have a small collection. Among my precious ones is a Milward shuttle from my MIL. It had been out of sight for such a long time and about to be thrown away during a move. Luckily my daughter found it :)

  10. Indeed pretty....and innocent as a pansy could be . And I bet it could make a beautiful tatting, too ;). Just give it a try..it may be really "special", you know...the one that you waited for all your life ;)

  11. That is a beautiful shuttle but then am also partial towards pansies.

I made a mistake of using LadyShuttleMaker's shuttle to tat so now its not usable - it has been super-glued.
