From Crafty Manolo
"So what’s the moral of the story? Well, if you have a loved one serving overseas or if you contribute to care packages to support the troops, consider adding a ball of yarn, a couple of knitting needles, a chart or two, or even something like a tatting shuttle and thread to your offering. It’s a little thing, but it might be a real aid in helping someone stay sane and grounded in the midst of war."
I think this could apply even to care packages that are part of a relief effort. There is a more in-depth article at The Washington Post.
what a good idea...
ReplyDeleteOh that is so very seriously cool! I have had several nephews 'over there' and would have happily sent yarn, needles and patterns if I'd known!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Gina, I'm so glad to know about this. I'll pass this information on to other crafters. Knitting would be so restful in that stressful situation. Thanks for the info. Blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very rewarding article. Thank you for sharing it. My LYS makes hats and gloves to send, but to my knowledge never thought about sending the actual yarn and needles. So cool.
ReplyDeleteThis is such an amazing article. I will pass this along and see if I can gather supplies to send. Thank you for sharing this with us.
ReplyDeleteA very humbling article. It's important to reflect on the sacrifices made by our military every day. I never realized they might actually want to do needlework, but I now realize that it would fill a need and be a welcome respite from their intense duties! Thanks for passing this along!
